Alkaline Ionized Water is produced by a process of electrolysis that is over 200 years old. It was first attempted and utilized in 1800 by William Nicholson and Johann Ritter and has been used in different industry applications such as smelting and other processes that require separating different metal elements. Michael Faraday invented the magneto and dynamo and one of his inventions was a device for creating electrolysis, the electronic separation of water into its two principal constituents, hydrogen and oxygen. Alkaline ionized water is made using a water ionizer to electrically split filtered tap water into alkaline water and acidic water and then feeds the two different waters into separate chambers. The alkaline water that has been gathered in one chamber has been confirmed to be beneficial to human health and wellness. The acidic water has important applications for cleaning and sanitation.
The first water ionizers to use this technology were developed in Japan and expounded on the changes and refinement of the preceding Russian efforts. Experimentation of these early efforts of alkaline ionized water were first attempted on plants and animals. In 1954, several Japanese universities began recording and measuring the effects of ionized water, with a focus on the effects of the acidic water on plants. They found that cut flowers and other plants keep for a longer period of time when they have been preserved with the acid water. Although it took longer to gather sufficient and credible data on humans, doctors in Japan finally amassed a large enough volume of data to confirm not only the non-toxicity of the alkaline water, but its beneficial effects in reducing or eliminating various diseases and illnesses.
The first "commercial" water ionizers were available in Japan in l958 and only very large units were used in hospitals. By l960, Japanese medical doctors and agricultural research scientists created a special medical and agricultural research institution to do more involved and extensive research on ionized water and the benefits derived from it. Due to reports of their findings, in January 1966, the Health and Rehabilitation Ministry of the Japanese Government acknowledged and prepared for certification of the alkaline water ionizer as a legitimate medical device for improving human health.
Why does Alkaline Ionized Water work?
Alkaline ionized water penetrates every cell of the body and creates superior acid/alkaline balance. Because this antioxidant property comes from the "electrolized" enhancement to the water, these antioxidants do not have to go through the metabolic process before they are utilized - they are able to go directly to the cell walls to prevent and repair free radical damage in an efficient and powerful way. They also act as a "carrier" to help transport the antioxidant properties of foods and supplements more thoroughly.
